There are many times in people's lives where they feel stressed from work or school and just need a little something to help them relax. The folks at Tomy toy company in Japan realized this need and created a new product that has the potential to warm your heart and heal your tired soul. These toys with amazing abilities are called Nohohon Zoku (Tribe) or otherwise known as "Hidamari no Tami" (translated literally in English as "Sunny People") and although you can't actually play with them like regular toys, their happy presence can lift up your spirits and bring peace of mind only if it is for a few moments.

Hidamari no Tami are little easy-going creatures that live in a wonderful world that is filled with nature and are said to appear when someone feel stressed, worried, tired, or depressed. Illuminated by sunlight, Hidamari no Tami will cheer you up by giving you gestures of encouragement or sharing the relaxing sounds of nature or music with you. Their presence will help you feel more relaxed and give you a few happy moments out of your busy day. Some Hidamari no Tami also have the ability to share a variety of songs with you as well.

These little creatures come in three types. The first group is the standard Hidamari no Tami. These cute characters have a great, big smile on their face and just bob their heads either back and forth or from side to side giving you encouragement. They don't need batteries and are completely powered by the sun or light. They also feature an on-and-off switch so you can use them at your own discretion. They come in a variety of colors ranging from sakuranbo cherry pink to yamabuki deep chrome yellow. Just put one of these on your desk and switch them on when you need a little time to just get away. Although they don't do much besides nod, they are sure to bring a smile on your face. Also, if you find yourself stressed from being stuck in traffic during driving, place one in your car and you've got a great alternative to those hula-girl or dog bobble heads. Be sure to pick up the special 2003 Christmas version too because they're sure to bring relief from those hectic holidays.

The second group of these adorable creatures are the Hidamari no Tami with Sounds type. Since Hidamari no Tami are from an environment surrounded by nature, some have the ability to bring relaxation by playing sounds of nature. One type in this Hidamari no Tami group is called "Umi no Sasayaki" and brings the whispers of the ocean side to you. While gently moving its head, you can hear the soft sounds of waves and seagulls just as if you were transported to the beach. The second version of this group is called "Mori no Sasayaki," that has the ability to bring the tranquil whispers of birds and wind in the forest. For those who love hiking or the mountains, it will be sure to take you away from the hustle and bustle of city life and remind you of the sweet sounds of nature.

The third group of the Hidamari no Tami line are called "Hanauta no Tami" (or "Humming People"). These creatures are slightly larger than their other group members and love to sing and sway to music. Each character features three songs depending on what mood you like. For those who want to be transported back in time to your happy childhood days, you may like the Hanauta no Tami - Song of Memory version, which features tracks like Stand by Me. Or for those who need a little help falling asleep, the Hanauta no Tami - Song of Slumber version plays tunes like When you Wish Upon a Star or Somewhere Over the Rainbow. For those that are fan of J-pop, there's also some that feature songs from Morning Musume and Smap! With some many different Hanauta no Tami varieties, you are sure to find one that fits your mood and tastes.

There are also a few special versions of the Hanauta no Tami line. The Hanauta no Tami - Song of Time not only brings you classical music and encouragement, but it is also a clock that features an alarm that awakes you with its happy music and swaying head. This is great for those who are not morning people or find it difficult to awake in the early hours. This will surely make you feel energized and bring happiness to even the grumpiest of people. There is also a cuckoo clock function that can be set to play music with each change of the hour. Another special model is the seasonal Christmas version. This cutie is dressed with a Santa hat and sways to merry Christmas tunes such as Jingle Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Much cuter and unique than those dancing snowmen everyone displays throughout Christmas.

Finally one important thing about the Hanauta no Tami group: When you have two or more together you can connect them and they will sway in unison. You can have your very own choir of Hanauta no Tami and they are sure to make you feel energized and joyous inside!

So for those of you who find yourselves needing a little encouragement or something to brighten up your day, these lovable Hidamari no Tami and Hanauta no Tami may be just the thing you are looking for. Also, they make great gifts and will be sure to delight any person lucky enough to receive one. Whether you grab one for yourself, a friend, or a loved one, they will create a happy aura that is sure to bring a smile to your face.
